Each one of these fruity concoctions tastes like a tropical paradise in a glass. They’re full of sweet, tangy pineapple and your favorite liquor, too. From the classic pina colada to sneaky Bahama mama, there’s a pineapple cocktail just waiting to put a smile on your face. Close your eyes, take a sip, and let your troubles melt away. With a pineapple cocktail in hand, you’re on island time, my friend.
These Pineapple Juice Cocktails Will Take You to the Tropics
1. Pineapple Screwdriver
What I love about this pineapple screwdriver is how easy it is to make. In a large pitch, combine pineapple juice, orange juice, and vodka. Give it a stir, then pour it into a highball glass. In 5 minutes, you’ll be able to kick back and relax with a well-deserved screwdriver in hand. Don’t be surprised if you suddenly get a knock at the door. Your unexpected guests want one too. Luckily, you can easily double this recipe to share with some good company.
2. Pineapple Margarita
Strawberry margaritas were my favorite rendition of this classic until I took a sip of this recipe. The tanginess of pineapple contrasts the sweetness of the triple sec in the most amazing way. I love serving up a pitcher of this on a hot summer day. These margaritas make a nice addition to taco nights and summer barbecues alike. While I prefer this one shaken and served on the rocks, you can make it frozen too. Just blend all your ingredients until you reach a luscious frozen consistency.
3. Pineapple Mojito
Mojitos are the epitome of refreshing. Add in pineapple and you’ve got a smashing pair! For this, you’ll need some space to work. So use a tall glass like a collins or highball glass. In the bottom, muddle pineapple, sugar, club soda, and lime. This will help release all those yummy juice from the pineapple and meld everything together. Then add mint, pineapple juice, and rum. For a real kick of freshness, rub the mint around the glass and serve with a fresh sprig.
4. Pineapple Bourbon Lemonade
Now, this is what a lazy afternoon porch session is all about. The tartness of the lemon and the fruitiness of the pineapple meld together seamlessly, and they pair impeccably with the smooth, warming quality of bourbon. If you’re not a bourbon fan, rum is a great replacement. You can also adjust the tartness level with more or less lemon.
5. Pineapple Upside-Down Cocktail
If you think pineapple upside-down cakes are good, wait until you try them in liquid form! This adult beverage tastes just like the pineapple dessert. It achieves this flavor by using a dash of grenadine and a glug of pineapple juice. There’s even a garnish of maraschino cherries and fresh pineapple to match. While this recipe uses cake-flavored vodka, I think coconut rum would also be delightful.
6. Pina Colada in a Pineapple
Nothing screams vacation like a pineapple cocktail in an actual pineapple! If you like pina coladas, grab a fresh pineapple and hollow out the middle. You’ll need to freeze the flesh before blending it to create the perfect slushy consistency. To make your drink a coconut lover’s dream, use coconut cream and coconut milk. This creamy, lush pina colada is so good it tastes like a fresh ocean breeze with soft sand beneath your feet.
7. Painkiller Cocktail
What’s a painkiller you ask? It’s a cocktail similar to a pina colada that originated in the British Virgin Islands. In pina colada fashion, It uses rum, coconut cream, and pineapple juice. However, the twist it calls for is a splash of orange juice, Pusser’s rum, and a garnish of nutmeg. You can make this with any rum, but Pusser’s is the classic choice. They did trademark this cocktail, after all.
8. Pineapple Martini
There are countless ways to make a martini. However, only this one infuses this classic with the flavors of a tropical paradise. While it may look pinky’s up fancy, this martini couldn’t be easier. All you need is some quality vodka, lime, and pineapple juice. Toss everything in a cocktail shaker and then strain. If you’re more of a gin drinker, you can use that instead of vodka. All those botanical notes would pair just as nicely.
9. Pineapple Rum Punch
In just 5 minutes, you can have this rum punch ready for a poolside bash. In a large punch bowl, pour in gold rum, pineapple coconut juice, lime, and ginger ale. Give everything a good stir and pop this into the fridge until the guests arrive. I like gold rum because it has a sweet, vibrant flavor that isn’t as rich as dark rum. This makes it a great choice for punches just like this. Speaking of which, if you do want to sweeten this recipe up a bit you can add a splash of simple syrup. This will make it sweeter without drastically changing the flavor.
10. Classic Pina Colada
Of course, we can’t talk about pineapple cocktails without mentioning a classic pina colada. Invented in Puerto Rico, this recipe is an ode to this cocktails’ roots. It blends rum, cream of coconut, and pineapple juice into a delectable frozen treat. The important part is cream of coconut and not coconut cream! Unlike coconut cream, cream of coconut is sweetened which is precisely what you want for this drink. I recommend serving this in a tall glass with a tropical cocktail umbrella and wedge of pineapple.
11. Bahama Mama
Heed my warning, Bahama mamas are dangerously delicious. They’re super smooth and fruity, and full of booze, too. This recipe uses dark rum, white rum, and grenadine. Toss in the orange juice and pineapple juice and this becomes one sneaky drink. You may not be able to go on vacation, so let it come to you Bahama mama-style. Just remember, this is a high-octane beverage of choice.
12. Blue Hawaiian
Hosting a Hawaiian-themed party? Do I have the cocktail for you! As the name suggests, this cocktail was invented in Hawaii and sports the color blue. It’s full of tropical flavors, including pineapple and coconut. If you’re curious about the color, that comes from curacao. Curacao is an orange liqueur that turns fruity cocktails into a rich ocean blue. While Hawaiian shirts may be optional for your party, this recipe is non-negotiable!
13. Pineapple Tequila Sunrise
This pineapple variation of the tequila sunrise is a favorite of mine. It layers tequila, grenadine, orange juice, and pineapple juice in a tall glass. The final result looks just like a glorious sunrise. And the taste? That’s made even better with the splash of pineapple. This cocktail is great for gathering with friends on a warm summer day. It also makes a cheerful treat when taking a much-needed staycation.
14. French Martini
The reason this drink is called a French martini is that you make it with Chambord. This is a rich black raspberry liqueur that was invented in France. As for the other ingredients, all you need is pineapple juice and vodka. From there, you can shake or stir. One thing is for certain, you’ll want a martini glass for this classy drink. Add a toothpick of raspberries and a pineapple wedge for an additional treat.
15. Malibu Bay Breeze
Thanksgiving or Fourth of July, I think a Malibu bay breeze is an excellent choice for celebrating. This recipe takes tart unsweetened cranberry juice and pairs it with sweet pineapple juice for a sensational drink. Did I mention it also uses Malibu coconut rum? I recommend steering clear of sweetened cranberry juice for this one. Cranberry juice tends to make this recipe overwhelmingly sweet and masks the pineapple flavor. No matter the season, I think little cocktail umbrellas are in order for this one.
16. Malibu Sunset
Another incredible way to use Malibu rum is this recipe. This cocktail is very refreshing and fruity. It calls for pineapple orange juice, coconut rum, and grenadine. The result is a sweet, coconut drink that gets a burst of freshness from the pineapple orange juice. Traditionally, this is made with cranberry juice instead of grenadine. But both are just as good! Serve this on the rocks with a couple of maraschino cherries.
17. Pineapple Sangria
Come to my house for Sunday brunch and you’ll find a delightful pitcher of pineapple sangria on the table. This recipe is easy, refreshing, and full of fruity goodness. In a large pitcher, dump in prosecco, lemonade, and pineapple juice. You could even add a splash of brandy or rum while you’re at it. If you don’t happen to have prosecco, white wine or sparkling wine work, too. And of course, it wouldn’t be sangria without some fresh fruit. This recipe uses pineapple and strawberries. But I think some peaches and nectarines would be great, too. Click on a star to rate it!
